Countertop Inspiration

Two Stones, Endless Countertop Possibilities

Portuguese Grey limestone and Statuario Venato marble represent two distinct approaches to countertop design. Portuguese Grey offers warm grey tones with natural fossil character - a quiet, grounded stone that anchors a kitchen or bathroom with understated elegance. Statuario Venato, quarried from the Carrara region of Italy, delivers a bright white background with bold grey veining that turns a waterfall island or vanity top into a sculptural centrepiece.

At Apexstone, both stones are cut to 18, 20, or 30 mm thickness with CNC precision for sink, cooktop, and faucet openings. Whether you need a single vanity top for a residential bathroom or a full countertop program for a multi-unit hospitality project, our factory delivers consistent quality with lead times of 25-35 days from drawing approval.

Design Notes

Key Design Considerations

01

Thickness Selection

Countertops are available in 18 mm, 20 mm, and 30 mm thicknesses. 18 mm suits standard kitchen cabinets and is lighter for shipping; 20 mm is the most common specification for both kitchen and vanity tops; 30 mm provides a substantial, premium look for waterfall islands and statement pieces.

02

Edge Profiles

CNC edge profiling offers straight, beveled, bullnose, ogee, and laminated edges. For waterfall islands, the edge profile must wrap seamlessly from the horizontal surface down the vertical side - this requires precise slab selection and fabrication to maintain vein continuity.

03

Sink and Faucet Cutouts

Both stones are cut with CNC precision for undermount and top-mount sinks, cooktop openings, and faucet drilling. Templates are verified against approved drawings before cutting begins, ensuring on-site installation proceeds without modifications.

04

Sealing and Maintenance

Portuguese Grey limestone is sealed with a penetrating sealer to resist staining in kitchen environments. Statuario Venato marble, being more porous, requires regular resealing - typically every 6 to 12 months for kitchen countertops and every 12 months for vanity tops.

Applications

Where These Countertops Shine

Kitchen Countertops & Islands

Kitchen Countertops & Islands

Portuguese Grey limestone countertops bring warm grey tones and fossil character to everyday kitchens, while Statuario Venato marble waterfall islands create a sculptural centrepiece for luxury culinary spaces. Both stones are cut to 18, 20, or 30 mm thickness with CNC precision for sink, cooktop, and faucet openings.

Bathroom Vanity Tops

Bathroom Vanity Tops

Portuguese Grey vanity tops offer a spa-like serenity with their warm grey base and natural fossil detail, harmonising with brushed nickel and matte black fixtures. Statuario Venato vanity tops deliver a bright, luminous surface with bold veining that elevates a master bath into a gallery-like space. Single and double bowl cutouts, faucet drilling, and integrated backsplashes are all available.

Waterfall Island Profiles

Waterfall Island Profiles

A waterfall island profile - where the countertop slab continues down the sides to the floor - showcases the full vein pattern of Statuario Venato marble. The bold grey veining wraps seamlessly from horizontal to vertical, creating a continuous stone surface. Portuguese Grey waterfall islands offer a quieter, more reserved version of the same profile.

Hospitality & Multi-Unit Projects

Hospitality & Multi-Unit Projects

For hotels, resorts, and multi-unit residential developments, Portuguese Grey limestone provides natural stone authenticity at a controlled budget. Statuario Venato is specified for feature suites and lobby spaces where visual impact justifies the premium marble investment.

Our Process

From Block to Countertop

Every countertop project follows a rigorous process - from block selection to precision fabrication and global shipping. Our team manages every step to ensure the finished countertop meets your design vision and dimensional specifications.

  • Block Selection

Premium Portuguese Grey and Statuario Venato blocks are hand-selected at the quarry for color consistency, vein pattern, and structural integrity.

  • Slab Cutting

Blocks are cut into slabs at 18, 20, or 30 mm thickness using gang saws and diamond wire, then dried and inspected for defects.

  • CNC Fabrication

Slabs are cut to exact dimensions, edge-profiled, and polished using CNC machinery. Sink, cooktop, and faucet cutouts are precision-drilled to ±0.5 mm tolerance.

  • Quality Control

Each countertop is inspected for color match, vein continuity, edge finish, and dimensional accuracy. Templates are verified against approved shop drawings.

  • Crating & Shipping

Countertops are packed in wooden crates with foam protection and shipped worldwide from Xiamen port. FOB and DDP terms are available.
